●Katie Holmes speaks out about her divorce from Tom Cruise
! Well, speaks out by telling a New York Daily News reporter — who apparently questioned Holmes while she and daughter Suri were making a 4th of July grocery run at a New York Whole Foods — that, “I’m all right — thank you.” (NY Daily News)

●Katie Holmes speaks out about Tom Cruise in Elle magazine’s August cover story! Well, in a kind-of and not-really way. The piece is based on an interview conducted six weeks ago and is being widely cited in the blogosphere as evidence that Holmes’s divorce plan was already in the works. Why? Because, among other things, she said this when asked about her husband: “He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years. I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, and I want to focus on that.” So, you know, that’s indisputable proof. (People)

● The Hollywood Reporter has published a story that calls Holmes Scientology’s “biggest nightmare.” (THR)

● And speaking of Scientology, that same Daily News article that featured the big Holmes Whole Foods reveal also quotes Jenna Miscavige Hill, estranged niece of Scientology church leader David Miscavige. She reportedly released a statement on her Web site in which she wishes for Holmes “the strength she will need to do what is best for her and her daughter.” Miscavige Hill is a former member of the church who has been critical of its treatment of children. Her Web site is called exscientologykids.com, but is currently inaccessible due to a server error. David Miscavige served as the best man at the Cruise/Holmes wedding.

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise was just named the highest paid actor in Hollywood according to Forbes. He also had kind of a lousy 50th birthday on Tuesday and, according to Us, begged Holmes to come to Iceland, where he had been filming the movie “Oblivion,” to attempt reconciliation. (Forbes; People; Us)
